Modern office profiles

The modern office often has no walls or has walls of glass. What do you do then with the flip chart and the writing board? How do you get a good projection surface? And space for storage?

“That was the problem. Our solution was a pillar extending from the floor to the ceiling.” This is what Erik Frisell, the CEO of Audicom, says and he continues: “We contacted Sapa. We work together and solve problems together. It always works very well.”

An intelligent hollow profile with a lock

Mikael Ströberg is a technical designer at Audicom: “We developed the solution together – a hollow profile as the core and a semi-circular profile as the ‘lock’. The same profile is used as the front and the back element. Under these covers, which can be easily detached, there is space in which you can install electronic devices and route cables.” Mikael points at the hollow profile: “Choose any part of this profile and I will be certainly able to talk for 10 minutes explaining why it has been designed just in this way.

You always try to build in as many smart details as possible. Here we have a snap-in function and a fastening groove with the right angle in between. The 80 mm long straight section of the hollow profile itself ensures stability and functions as a baffle for loudspeakers if you would like to integrate them in the pillar.”

Fantasy sets the limits

The pillar, that has been named X-line, is a solution that appeals even to architects. It does not dominate the room as a traditional, heavy wooden AV wall does.
“The covers are natural anodised at the moment, but they can be just as well colour anodised. Or why not paint them using Decoral and create a ‘marble’ pillar? The architect can make the choice himself. The covers do not have to be round either as they are today. I can easily imagine rectangular pillars. There are not limitations, if you use profiles”, says Mikael.

Tastes change. If you want to change the appearance of your meeting room in the future, it will be as simple as replacing the covers without even having to disassemble the core. Of course, the fact that the covers can be easily detached also facilitates service and the installation of new cables.

The pillars, with grooves for everything that you could wish to hang on them, are delivered in lengths up to 6 metres and are attached invisibly to the floor and the ceiling.

Audicom’s range of products contains a great number of Sapa profiles, such as, among other things, AV strips and frames. A large variety of surfaces is available here. Anodised, pained and laminated. “But here you have solid wood anyway”, I say. Not at all, it is an aluminium profile with lots of integrated functions. But it is covered with lamination. The feeling of wood is total.
