When design profiles discover aluminium profiles

For Fagerhult light is a science – “Art of Light”. It can be measured, quantified and controlled in order to create functional, comfortable and energy efficient lighting. For Olle Lundberg, Industrial Designer SD, light is a raw material with the help of which he creates personal expressions:

“What do suspended light fittings look like today? Well, 95% of them are austere, hard and rectangular. I wanted to find a unique solution. What would happen, if you mixed different light sources together, both straight and round fluorescent tubes? This meeting resulted in a new, organic form. But the meeting between the round and the straight that takes place in Orosso must, of course, make it possible to preserve the light quality. At the same time, I want people to be able to get a feeling of the form in the light pattern. The light flows out and follows the lines of the light fitting.”

Olle Lundberg has often used aluminium profiles in his designs: “The straight parts of the profiles are preserved here. I have created an outer form, an expression. Fagerhult’s technicians, in co-operation with Sapa, have used the profile manufacturing technology to create solutions which make the assembly process easier – grooves and screw ports, for example. There is also space for transformers and other technical devices inside the profiles.”

Fagerhult’s involvement in the “Art of Light” concept has been very successful. Orosso has been awarded, among other things, the Red Dot Design Award. More information:  www.fagerhult.se
