Sapa Profiles Shanghai received TS 16949 certificate on 17th Nov, 2008, after a lot of hard working by the project team, led by our Quality Manager, Kelly Liu.
Automotive is part of the business portfolio in Sapa Profiles Shanghai, but relatively small in size for the moment. However, the management of Sapa believed that following the working way of TS 16949, the management efficiency will be improved significantly, therefore obtaining TS 16949 certificate was decided as a strategic move for the company, and TS was considered a management tool instead of a “ticket” for entering automotive business, although it does help Sapa Profiles a lot in front of automotive customers.
There is a lot of hard work behind this certificate, involving more or less everybody in the company. Some key members (Kelly, Mikael, Tony, James, Howard, Aaron) of the project team had spent months in discussing and fine-tuning the processes of the company, and a very systematic management system of the company is in place, with a lot of focus on the Pre-Engineering process.
Receiving TS certificate is something worth celebrating, of course. However, everybody in the company understands that the certificate itself is not really the target, the final goal is an improved efficiency and quality and a satisfied customer base, resulting from implementation a good system and continuous improvement. Therefore a certificate is not an end, but just a start, for a higher level of quality and continuous improvement.
Sapa Profiles Shanghai is one of the few companies in the group that obtained TS certificate. Sapa Profiles in China and Asia has a very ambitious plan to develop more business in the field of automotive, so the certificate at this moment is actually very encouraging for Sapa, and for the customers.
