Sapa Profily a.s. launched production for IKEA

These were just brave ambitions and a huge challenge for Sapa Profily a.s. one year and half ago that have now come true. Having successfully passed the IKEA audit for quality assurance, purchasing, selling, logistics, safety at work and the environment we were accepted for serial production.

Since August 2008, the Sapa Profily a.s. has been producing and delivering a series of aluminium sliding doors for the interior system known under the name of PAX Lyngdal. Following the philosophy of the IKEA company which is built on the idea that a customer is to do the assembly of the product in own homes for themselves, also the product  coming from Sapa Profily consists of palletized cardboard boxes filled with aluminium profiles and mounting accessories, including glass panels. The product set prepared in such form is dispatched directly to the IKEA stores located in EU countries.

The production of PAX Lyngdal involves all operations across the entire company. The core operation is extrusion of aluminium profiles, which are consequently surface treated with anodic oxidation to give them a natural look. Then, the extruded and surface-treated profiles are sawn to desired sizes and the mounting holes for corner braces and other accessories are punched in the profiles. Other operations include packing on an assembly line and palletization, for which a robotic workstation is used for the first time within our company.

IKEA project is an excellent reference for Sapa Profily - it's the largest investment with the most modern facility in one project, it's the contract with the largest annual volume of production from one profile, PAX is a product with the highest value-added and most demanding project for surface quality of aluminium profiles.

IKEA project is an example of Sapa philosophy - to produce and deliver not just raw aluminium profiles, but the finished products that are intended directly for the final customer.
