Properties of aluminium

FULLY RECYCLABLE

Aluminium is fully recyclable without any loss of quality.
Aluminium can be recycled indefinitely, and re-smelting aluminium requires relatively little energy. The recycling process consumes only around 5% of the energy needed to produce the original primary metal.
Aluminium has a high intrinsic value and a low cost of use, owing to its long service life and minimum maintenance requirement.

CORROSION RESISTANT AND DURABLE

A protective oxide coating forms naturally on aluminium, which makes it highly resistant to corrosion. This property can be further improved by various types of surface treatment, such as anodising, painting or powder coating.
Aluminium is especially useful in applications where protection and preservation are required.

OUTSTANDING MACHINING AND BENDING CHARACTERISTICS

Aluminium is easy to work, and it has a low melting point and low density. It can be processed in various ways in the molten, plastic and cold state.
Thanks to their malleability, aluminium products can be fashioned to the exact shape required.
The metal is easy to machine, and it can be riveted, welded, soldered and glued.

GOOD ELECTRICITY AND HEAT CONDUCTIVITY

Aluminium is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. Its conductivity per unit weight is nearly twice that of copper. As a result, aluminium is the most common material for electricity transmission lines. Aluminium also has good reflective properties. It is a good reflector of visible light and infrared, which combined with its low weight makes it an ideal material for reflectors in lighting fixtures and reflective coatings on survival blankets. LIGHTWEIGHT AND STRONG

Aluminium is a very lightweight metal with a specific density of 2.7 kg/dm3 (approximately one-third the density of steel). It can be alloyed to create the same strength as many types of structural steel. Using aluminium reduces weight and energy consumption, while at the same time increasing load-bearing capacity.

A MODERN METAL

Aluminium has a natural shine. Aluminium is an attractive, modern material ideal for creatives and designers.
