Milestones

Sapa's building system business started with some complementary aluminium profiles for windows and steel doors in 1970. The first thermally insulated system, SapaFront+, was introduced in 1974. In 1978, its name was changed to SapaFront. In 1981, we took over the Thornville Group (UK) and thus became owner of Monarch, a reputable building system company. Expansion really started in the middle of the 90s and was mainly based on acquisitions. The most significant milestones for both Sapa and RC System are:

1991RC System is established
1992Sapa System in Sweden opens a sales office in Poland
RC System acquires Hardy Aluminium in France
1993RC System takes over Hoog-Al System from Hoogovens in Belgium
1996Sapa acquires Indalex in the UK
1997RC System takes over Aleurope from Reynolds in Belgium
1998Sapa acquires Intexalu in France
1999RC System acquires Ekonal in Germany
2000Sapa acquires Anodil in Portugal
2003Sapa System in Sweden opens a sales office in Lithuania
2003Sapa acquires RC System
2004The building systems activities of Sapa and RC System merge, creating Sapa Building System
