Inverter heat sinks

Inverter heat sinks

Extruded aluminium is superior to other metals as a heat dissipater based on its cost, weight and formability.

Superior heat dissipation

The cooling efficiency of a heat sink depends on the material and on the quality of the heat sink’s fins. Sapa aluminium structures optimise their performance. Extruded aluminium outperforms cast aluminium due to its higher thermal conductivity, which is twice as effective, and copper due to its lower weight.

Narrow fins for high efficiency

Heat dissipation also depends on the shape and design of the cooling fins. Sapa heat sinks offer high heat dissipation efficiency due to their narrow fins that are closely spaced and made with a very high precision.

Favourable price per kg

Despite a higher price per kilogram, aluminium heat sinks offer a better total economy than steel heat sinks. A favourable heat dissipation efficiency combined with the low density of aluminium minimises the amount of material needed and reduces total weight. Space can be freed up for more components in the cabinet, translating into a higher power output. Thus, the cost per kilowatt is comparable or lower than using steel coolers.
