Sep. 6th 2011, One of the world’s leading aluminium manufacturers, Sapa Group of Sweden announced that it has established its third technology centre; Sapa Technology (Shanghai), in Jiading, Shanghai. Jan Strid, General Manager of Sapa Technology Global, Johan Menckel, President of Sapa Profiles Asia , and Colin Xu, Managing Director of Sapa Heat Transfer (Shanghai) Ltd. attended the opening ceremony.
Currently Sapa Group has in total three technology centres globally; Sapa Technology in Finspång Sweden, Sapa North America Tech Centre in Portland, Oregon USA and now Sapa Technology (Shanghai). It’s newest technology establishment shares the same important strategic position within the group as the other two, and contributes to strengthening the group’s leading position in the aluminium extrusion and heat exchange industry even further by leveraging on global R&D capabilities, engineering competence and technology transfer. Jan Strid, General Manager of Sapa Technology Global, said; “Sapa Technology (Shanghai) is an R&D centre built on the group’s global combined knowledge serving both local and global customers. Sapa Technology (Shanghai) will provide a full range of technical support and services both to Sapa Profiles & Sapa Heat Transfer, and be a strong contributor to enhancing their values and supporting their strategic direction.” In addition, Sapa Technology (Shanghai) will offer process optimization, as well as product and solution development. Its long-term vision is to build Sapa Technology (Shanghai) as Sapa’s technical backbone in Asia to serve, develop and grow with its customers.
Colin Xu, Managing Director of Sapa Heat Transfer (Shanghai) said, “The considerable amount of investment we put in R&D is a significant key driver of the company’s success. Through more than 30 years of efforts, Sapa has occupied a dominant position in the aluminium heat transfer industry and it cannot be separated from the vigorous and continuous investment in R&D projects.” Sapa’s investment in a new technology centre in Shanghai is another evidence of the Group’s focus on the Chinese market, and understanding of the capability of the engineering talent available in the region.
