Did you know?
With more than 2,000 employees at four extrusion plants, France is an important part of our organization. The extrusion plants are located in Albi, Châteauroux, Lucé and Puget. In addition, Sapa Building Systems is present in France in several different locations, including Toulouse.
We believe our strengths in France are:
Sapa Albi plant manager Xavier Delevacque (pictured) says Sapa’s strengths in France include a strong commitment to customer projects and a willingness to try new things. "Sapa has the ability to support its customers in ambitious projects such as when delivering the spectacular light poles to Qatar, that for us is more like a work of art than just functional light poles,” says Delevacque.
A long tradition:
André Bos founded Alusud, designing aluminum window systems, in 1960 in Toulouse, France. Not long after, the company changed its name to Technal, and the brand has grown to become an architectural aluminium systems specialist, with solutions based on extrusions. Technal is one of the three global systems brands owned by the Sapa group. The brand's test center in Toulouse is pictured below.
A project we are proud of:
Sapa brings light into the desert. When driving on the road to the new airport in Doha, Qatar, at night, you can watch 272 aluminium poles as they change colors. The poles stand 28 meters tall and are delivered by Sapa's extrusion plant in Albi. The changing lights represent the national hymn of Qatar. Sapa produced the parts, from extrusion to machining and surface treatment, then delivered them to Valmont France for installation in Qatar.
In addition, the Austrian studio COOP HIMMELB(L)AU Wolf D. Prix & Partner ZT GmbH has completed a faceted steel and angular glass building to house a natural history museum in Lyon. For this spectacular building - the "Musée des Confluences" (pictured above) - the Albi plant delivered powder coated and machined ready-to-use profiles.
Our safety advice:
"Individual behavior is important in order to obtain high safety performance. You have come a long way when your employees are using personal protective equipment even for their do-it-yourself activities at home. It means they are convinced about the importance of safety," says Delevacque.
