Sapa employs around 300 people in Mexico - about 200 at the Reynosa plant, and 100 at the Monterrey site.
Did you know?
Mexico is the fifth-largest country in the Americas by total area and is the 13th-largest independent nation in the world. With an estimated population of over 120 million, it is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world. Mexico has one of the world's largest and most diversified economies, with an abundance of natural resources such as oil and silver.
Sapa has two plants in Mexico, located in Monterrey and in Reynosa. Both are aluminium tubing sites, organized in the company’s Precision Tubing business area, and they employ nearly 300 people in total.
Their main products are drawn aluminium coil tube, extruded profiles and extruded tubes for heat exchange applications. Both plants are certified in ISO/TS 16949: 2009 and ISO 14001:2004.
We believe our strengths in Mexico are:
Plant director Luke McDermott (pictured) says “the people in Mexico represent our biggest strength. I continue to be impressed by their innovative solutions, positive attitude in the face of challenges, and their overall commitment to our success.
"I have found this culture of engagement unique relative to my other experiences, and it has allowed us to accomplish some great things.”
Our safety advice:
Safety can be summed up in three words: focus, discipline and commitment. Sapa’s employees in Mexico work hard to demonstrate these elements in their daily work and in their private lives. This has not only resulted in good safety performance but also improved quality and efficiency at the plants.
We are proud of:
Both the Monterrey and the Reynosa plants have achieved performance improvements in virtually all areas, including safety. Both locations have won the business area’s award for Operational Excellence since 2013, and the Reynosa site won the company’s innovation award in 2014.
The Monterrey plant is particularly strong in on-time delivery.
