In the US West, Sapa has plants and offices in California, Oregon, Utah, Washington and here in Arizona.
Did you know?
The western part of the United States is a region of scenic beauty on a grand scale. All of its states have mountains, and the ranges are the sources of startling contrasts. Los Angeles is the largest city in the region and the second-largest city in the USA, and is best known as the home of the Hollywood film industry.
Nestled amongst waterways and evergreens in the Pacific Northwest are some of Sapa's operations in the West. We have four sites in Portland, Oregon, and one plant in Vancouver, Washington. In addition, in September 2015, Sapa acquired a casthouse in The Dalles, Oregon.
We also have an extrusion plant in City of Industry, California, and in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, we have an industrial extrusion plant in Spanish Fork, Utah. Phoenix and Spanish Fork are also home to casthouses.
Our safety advice:
“Safety is the basis for our operations and an integral part of what we do every day. Listening and acting on employee concerns is the way to show that Safety is always at the top of the list.
"No one should go home injured after a day’s work at Sapa,” says Mats Johansson, plant manager for Sapa in Portland, Oregon.
We believe our strengths in the West are:
Our long history and experience in the West have given us valuable knowledge. In 2000, Portland became Sapa’s first North American plant. The plant celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014, and is a one-stop shop that serves many different markets.
Our employees in the West also take great pride in quality. Their entrepreneurial spirit allows them to take on projects that others do not want to take. City of Industry (with plant manager Pat Meyer pictured above) received the Extrusion Americas business area’s 2014 Plant of the Year Award for numerous reasons. These included being the leader in the LESS initiative, showing impressive volume and profit improvement, and having a great safety record.
In 2014, Spanish Fork won the prize for operational excellence for safety, shipping, customer service, casthouse production and Genesis (lean manufacturing) implementation.
Projects we are proud of:
Our facility in City of Industry recently collaborated with one of our customers to provide all the brackets for the new San Francisco 49ers stadium. This amounted to nearly 300,000 pounds of extruded aluminium. Fans at the 2016 Super Bowl will be sitting on Sapa aluminum-made seats.
Since 1994, the Phoenix plant has supplied 100 percent of the aluminum (pictured) to make Maglite® flashlights.
