Around 8 percent of the earth’s crust consists of aluminium in the form of different minerals.
Material properties such as light weight, high strength and resistance to corrosion contribute to low environmental loading. Aluminium can be reused over and over again. Unlike many other materials, it does not lose its unique properties.
- Low weight
- High strength
- Superior malleability
- Easy machining
- Excellent corrosion resistance
- Easy to mill, drill, cut, punch, bend, weld, bond, tape
Seventy-five percent of all aluminium ever produced is still in use, partly because the metal can be used over and over, without loss of its unique properties. Furthermore, the energy needed to produce secondary aluminium is only 5 percent of the original energy input.
Sapa remelts aluminium in more than 10 countries. All told, more than half of our total production is based on recycled aluminium.
