ROSEMONT, IL— Sapa Extrusions North America, a leading global manufacturer of extruded aluminum products, today announced it has attained ISO/TS 16949 certification for its Cressona, Pennsylvania facility. Achieving this international quality standard for the automotive industry demonstrates Sapa’s commitment to excellence in manufacturing processes for automotive applications.

It complements our recent investments in people and technology at Cressona, including the cast house expansion and a new 14-inch indirect press for rod and bar production. Sapa is extremely well positioned to meet continued demand for aluminum from the U.S. automotive markets.”
ISO/TS 16949, developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) in conjunction with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), aligns existing automotive quality systems standards within the global automotive industry and aims to eliminate the need for multiple certifications to satisfy customer requirements. ISO/TS 16949 is an industry-specific Quality Management System catering to automotive markets to promote continuous improvement, to emphasize defect prevention and to reduce waste and variation.
In addition to the Cressona facility, Sapa’s location in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania is ISO/TS 16949 certified.

The IATF consists of an international group of vehicle manufacturers including BMW Group, Chrysler Group, Daimler AG, Fiat Group Automobile, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Renault SA and Volkswagen AG.
