Sapa has today decided upon a number of actions to improve the profitability within Sapa Heat Transfer in Finspång, Sweden. Following the increasing uncertainty regarding the European market development, affecting the operations in Finspång, Sapa has changed the business focus, from an expansion phase focusing on increased investments in production capacity, to a consolidation of the operations with a clear goal to improve profitability in Finspång.
“Despite the fact that Sapa Heat Transfer showed a significant improvement during the first quarter this year, today’s actions are necessary in order to deal with changes in the economic development. By working more efficiently to increase productivity we ensure our long-term competitiveness and thereby secure the position as the globally leading supplier in the heat exchanger industry” says Svein Tore Holsether, President & CEO, Sapa Group.
In connection to the change in business focus, the Managing Director of Sapa Heat Transfer in Finspång, Ralf Nordén, has decided to leave Sapa. Oskar Hellström, current CFO of the business area Heat Transfer, will step in as acting Managing Director effective immediately.
A new position as Production Director, to which the managers of the operating units Casting, Rolling and Slitting will report, will also be appointed. The aim is to strengthen the management and increase coordination and cooperation between the operational units.
