Sapa Group's Environment, Health and Safety Policy was adopted by senior management in 2008 after the Joint Venture with Alcoa. The policy applies to all Sapa owned, Sapa managed, and Sapa leased locations worldwide and to all Sapa personnel, contractors, subcontractors and contracted services. All who work at Sapa are expected to understand, promote and assist in the implementation of the policy and the nine EHS Principles.
Read the EHS Policy.
Training
Sapa is responsible for implementing the Orkla Group's Code of Conduct and policies in an effective way. Training in EHS is provided as part of Sapa's introductory programmes for new employees, and in the Group's management training programmes. Various training and activities are going on throughout the Group to raise awareness of EHS. Examples are a sustainability e-learning course, campaigns on the intranet, group discussions on how to contribute to the sustainability strategy, and a conference for specialists within the Group.
Orkla's CR team assists Sapa through training and guidance on for example competition law, anti-corruption and responsible purchasing.
Member of the UN Global Compact
Sapa is a member of the UN Global Compact through Orkla's membership, and is committed to operating in accordance with Global Compact's ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
