History

Yankton SD plant in 1979 Sapa's Yankton, SD plant has existed in south east South Dakota for over 30 years.  Construction on the plant was started in 1979 with operations beginning in 1980.  The plant is approximately 400,000 square feet with over 400 employees.  Major additions to the operation since the plant was started in 1979 consisted of the following:

1984 – Fabrication operation

1987 – 3000-ton direct press

1992 – 2750-ton direct press

1992 – Vertical 4-booth paint line

1994 – Fabrication operation expansion

1999 – Packing, Shipping, and Warehouse expansion
