Sapa Profiles, Inc. is a supplier to a large number of customer groups whose activities follow different business cycles. Product Area Profiles have customers in many different sectors of the industry, while Building Product’s customers mainly are found in the building & construction industry. Customers to our Product Area Bicycles are found in the bicycle industry.

Transportation Industry

The transportation industry accounts for about 13% of Sapa Profiles, Inc.’s sales. Trailers and semitrailers account for nearly 61% of Sapa, Inc.’s sales to the transportation industry. The remaining 39% consists of deliveries to passenger cars, buses, trucks, aircraft and other transportation.

The transportation industry has been the largest end-user of aluminum products for many years, and the percentage of aluminum in transportation vehicles continues to increase at the expense of heavier materials. The percentage is expected to increase over the next five years.

Building & Construction Industry

The building & construction industry is the biggest customer group and accounts for about 43% of Sapa Profiles, Inc.’s sales. Primary window and doors accounts for 55%, and other building & construction 45%.

The use of aluminum in the building & construction industry shows favorable growth. Aluminum is highly suitable as a construction material because of its low weight, great strength and limited maintenance requirements. Aluminum extrusion technology also supports a high degree of flexibility in architectural solutions and designs.

Electronic Industry

The electronic industry is a rapid-growth market for applications of aluminum profiles. The percentage of value-added aluminum profiles is increasing constantly, and Sapa Profiles, Inc. has and will continue to increase its capacity for profiles fabrication. The largest growth potential lies in applications in power supply, including transformers and switchboards, and in telecommunications.

Machinery & Equipment Industry

The machinery & equipment industry accounts for about 11% of Sapa Profiles, Inc.’s sales, and is a steady growing market for applications of aluminum profiles. The percentage of value-added aluminum profiles is increasing constantly.

Distributors & Jobbers Industry

We have the fastest leadtimes in the industry and excellent customer service. These factors are key to the distributors and jobbers industry, and a big reason why our distributors & jobbers industry accounts for about 20% of Sapa, Inc. sales.

Consumer Durables Industry

The consumer durables industry is a growing area for Sapa Profiles, Inc. It accounts for about 10% of Sapa Profiles, Inc.’s sales. Sport & athletic goods is the largest with 60%, followed by other consumer durables 16% and furniture 14%.

The use of aluminum in end consumer products is growing very fast. Aluminum is high-end material when it comes to design. It is also favorable due to its low weight, great strength and limited maintenance requirements.
