When Alutubes, Sapa Heat Transfer in Belgium, was awarded as Sapa President's Company of the Year Award* in 2011, it didn't take long for the management to decide upon a useful and sustainable allocation for the 100.000 $ price that came along with the Award. "We agreed that the gift should of course be something in which our own product is represented and a real extra for the employees", Inge Buyse, Managing Director at Alutubes, explains.
The management decided to offer an aluminium bike to each of the employees, of which the bike steerage is made of aluminium welded tubes from non less than Alutubes itself. The bicycle is fabricated by a local bike producer. "We are also supporting the local economy doing this", explains Inge.
But there were also other reasons behind choosing the bikes. "This is a durable gift, stimulating our employees to ride their bikes to work, it fits perfectly to our product and material, and it integrates and promotes our own product", says Inge.
The bikes were ready last week and were handed over to the employees in the presence of the Board of Directors and the Flemish press. "Our employees are delighted with the gift - made by Alutubes", concludes Inge.
